At its core, the Feast of Tabernacles is a harvest festival. Like other Holy Days, the harvest theme is used to explain deeper spiritual issues concerning repentance, judgment and salvation.
But agriculture has changed much through the centuries and modern society has lost its connection with the land – lost its familiarity with the necessary work required to bring a crop to maturity. In like manner, we have lost our understanding of God’s intentions for mankind and His expectations for us today.
