Hi Friend,
Does spirit have structure? Physical things such as your body are composed of a skeleton and skin tissue. That’s structure. You have veins and lungs. These are classified into systems such as the circulatory and respiratory systems.
In fact, the whole world is composed of systems that make it operate. When some people expressed to Jesus their worries about providing necessities for the family, He told them not to worry. “Think about how the lilies grow.” (Luke 12:27) Now that’s an interesting response. Jesus is telling them to meditate about the way God structured the world. “(Lilies) don’t work or make clothing,” he told them. Even so, “not even Solomon in all of his glory was dressed like one of those flowers” (verse 28).
In other words, a little thought will reveal that God has set in motion a system to take care of His creation. You don’t think about breathing. The body does it automatically. You can’t make your blood flow faster by thinking about it. It does so without conscious thought—all by itself.
Once Jesus told some followers, “This is what the kingdom of God is like.” (Mark 4:26) He described plants sprouting and growing even while we sleep. Then He used an interesting phrase. “All by itself the soil produces grain….” (verse 28) He’s telling us that God created the system to work without our help. Get in harmony with the system and your life is better.
This is a structure to be seen if we open our eyes.
But what about the Spirit world? Is there system in that realm? And if there is, could humans benefit from operating within the system—or maybe lose something from NOT being in the system?
Jesus said that some people worship in a wrong way. He said, “in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.” (Matt. 15:9) I think of that scripture when I hear about snake handlers. Handling a poisonous snake doesn’t seem to me like a good way to worship God. But some people think there’s something “spiritual” about worshiping God by handling snakes.
A physical system has one major advantage. You can see how it operates. Cut a flower open, dissect a frog, put it under a microscope and the internal workings are obvious. Not so with spirit.
The workings of the spirit world are invisible to us. If God doesn’t tell us the structure of the spirit world, we’re at a loss as to HOW it operates.
It’s ironic that God did just that. God outlined a system of worship that He created for man—and it works.
There are three major seasons and it may surprise you to know that we are approaching one now. It is the third season of the year known as the Feast of Tabernacles.
The first is Passover when God told the Israelites nearly 1,500 years before Jesus was born that He would come to the earth as the Passover Lamb. The rest of the world had no clue about the Messiah coming to the earth to be the sacrificial lamb to take away sin. The only people who knew about this gift were those participating in the “system” God outlined for worship.
Next in the system is Pentecost. Once again, those living in the 1st Century who were in the system understood that God would give His Spirit to man. Many traveled to Jerusalem from surrounding countries to observe the day of Pentecost and thus witness a miracle and receive the greatest gift any human can receive—the Spirit of God.
The third season comes during the fall of the year. We are approaching the Feast of Tabernacles. It reveals the major landmarks for the return of Jesus Christ and what will happen after Christ’s return. People involved in the system today get a unique glimpse at a special revelation from God.
