One of the big blessings of the Winter Family Weekend is the opportunity to hear effective, vibrant teachings from the Word of God.

This year we will have church services on both Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.

Friday Night Service

Join us in the Main Ballroom at 7:00 PM to hear Herb Hanson, pastor of the CGI Detroit congregation, teach and enjoy an extended time of worship led by JoAnna Gonzalo.

Herb Hanson lives in Detroit, MI with his wife Anika and their five children. He currently serves as the Director of Digital Development for the Jewish Federation of Detroit. Ordained an elder in CGI in 2019, Herb currently serves as the pastor of the CGI congregation in Detroit.:

Sermon Title: The Water Gate Revival

Do you have any broken areas in your life? Your response to the Word of God determines the amount of reconstruction God can perform in your life. We are going to look at three responses to the Word of God that determine the impact God can have in your life. If you thirst for God to enter your life, and repair what has been broken, come meet Him at the Water Gate.

Saturday Afternoon Service

Join us for Sabbath services at 2:00 PM in the Main Ballroom at the Griffin Gate Marriott

Brother Kurt Hoyer will be giving the message.

Kurt Hoyer was raised in the Church of God and grew up with great friends and fond memories. Those experiences and memories were strong ties connecting him to a way of life that can be challenging while it is rewarding. He met his wife Jennifer at Ambassador College; they have been married for 35 years and are the proud parents of three young men. He recently retired from 22 years as a diplomat with the U.S. Department of State, a job that took the family around the world working in Mexico, Cyprus, Kenya, Israel, Afghanistan and the Philippines. Kurt is currently completing an MA in Archaeology from Hebrew University.

Sermon Title: And Then Shall the End Come

Jesus’ disciples pulled him aside one day and asked a famous question. “When shall all these things happen and what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the world?” Since that day, events in Israel have riveted the attention of the Christian world, especially those who focus on the “end times.” All followers of Jesus, the Apostles, the early church and us today all anticipate His return with longing and pour over His own words about that day. How can we place current events into a reliable context, what do these events mean? If we really look at the Bible’s teaching about the role of our anticipation of Jesus’ return in our lives, we will find teaching that is both sobering and encouraging. Where are we in prophecy? Where are YOU in prophecy? What does Jesus teach about the pitfall of complacency and the fire of ill-founded zeal? We can find answers to these and many more questions in the pages of scripture to make sure we are in tune with God’s purpose and His timing for each of us.

Worship will be led by Michael Shoemaker and the Church of God Cincinnati praise band.

In addition to church services on Friday and Saturday afternoons, there will be nearly 20 seminars on Sabbath morning from a variety of gifted men and women who will be presenting on a wide range of subjects.
