Abraham was one of the greatest men that “ever walked the earth yet he died not having received the promises.” An internal vision gave Abraham Faith in spite of physical surroundings. It was a greatness that came from the inside transcending external circumstances. The Feast of Tabernacles illustrates that great Vision.

Two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time. That phrase has been adopted from a quantum physics principle. Our God has a similar, spiritual principle. Godliness and godlessness cannot occupy our spiritual lives at the same time. We will look at the story of the Philistines placing the ark of God next to their idol Dagon. God teaches the Philistines, the children of Israel and us a very valuable lesson: When you place the light
of God next to the forces of darkness, the light of God always wins!

Herb Hanson is an elder and associate pastor in the Detroit congregation of the Church of God International where he lives with his wife Anika, and their five children. They directed the INFUSE program for CGI and helped produce the church magazine.

Just like our forebears, we live in a foreign world – in this world but not of this world. Who do we look to and where are our hearts focused? The journey is just as important as the destination, but we only want to linger in “Babylon” for as long as is necessary. Jesus is coming!
